Why Does URL Structure Matters?
When we create a page, why does the URL matter? URL is a Uniform Resource Locator. URL is an important thing that gives an index about a page to google. In other words, URL helps to determine what the page contains. URLs include protocol, domain name, and path. For example: –
https://www.example.com/index.html
In this https-protocol, www.example- domain name, index.html- path. The protocol points out how a browser should take information about resources. An important thing to consider is web standards. The ‘s’ in https ensures security.
The webpage has https ensure secure than http. The following to be considered while creating URL: –
● Create URLs which are simple, relevant, accurate and increase your traffic and also search engines to understand this.
● URL should be in brief but comprehensive & definite.so that users can expect about the page.
● A good URL will be in the form that can be readable. For that use hyphens to separate words. Don’t use spaces, underscores or other characters to separate words.
● Use lowercase letters, sometimes uses of uppercase letters that make
problems like duplicate pages.
The URL provides improved user experience. A simple or well-designed URL helps the user to understand what page about or what destination page will be. It gives a direct idea about what information will be there on the page so that it will improve user experience. Another important thing is, it will help in ranking. It is a slight factor that makes pages to improve ranking. According to overall domain name & keywords used in URL can act as ranking factor. Using these will help in site’s search visibility. A well- designed URL can provide their own anchor text when it is copied & pasted in any social media platform or any other
online platform. So, make sure that your URL structure is well-crafted.
